Mrs. Carol Buchanan

3rd Grade Teacher

Mrs. Carol Buchanan has taught for 25 years.   She is a graduate of East Central University, with a major in English and her minor was in Spanish.   Mr. B earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1982; the first year Oklahoma began teacher testing.  Although she passed her tests and received her teaching certificate that year, she chose to continue her career path in Human Resources, specifically as a Benefits Specialist/Administrator, before starting her career as a teacher in 1994.

As an “Air Force brat,”  Mrs. Buchanan moved and changed schools often, from Kindergarten in Puerto Rico to her senior year at Vanoss, Oklahoma.   Currently, she and her husband Daryl live on a few acres between Seminole and Wewoka and where they enjoy working in their garden. They have a son Connor, who is a sophomore  at Seminole State College.  They also have two dogs and two cats (Betty Boop, Mr. Scruff, Gypsy, and Gus.)

Mrs. B will be teaching third grade this year and is very excited to be at TAOS.  She will be working with both her students at our physical location, as well as the third grade students learning virtually.  Mrs. Buchanan enjoys incorporating project-based learning into her classes and especially loves teaching reading.  As she often tells her students, reading is not just words; it is about thinking and growing.
